TMZ has reported that Carmelo Anthony and Lala Anthony have separated.

As you know TMZ always has a source with all the details, and that is no different with this report. TMZ claims that a source close to Melo, and Lala have informed them that the power couple has indeed separated. The news reported is that the split is indeed amicable, and according to the source Lala does not intend to be moving out of NYC anytime soon.

This is the exact opposite of Melo’s situation. He may be indeed leaving NYC very soon, as it is no secret that his days as the Knick’s superstar are long gone. The tension between Melo, and the GM of the Knicks, Phil Jackson, have been bubbling up this entire 2016-2017 NBA season, and the writing has been on the wall for a long time. Melo days as a Knick are done, and he will not be returning this fall.

How much does this play on Melo and Lala’s relationship? We can only speculate at this point, but it is safe to assume it did not help any issues the couple was already having. Here is something for you to ponder on. Who was very much a strong force in pushing Melo to the NYK, and when there was later down the line a chance for Melo to leave to the Knicks who was it that was pushing for him to go to the Los Angelas market or stay in New york? Where is “Power” filmed?

When the dust does clear, and if this separation does spill over into actual divorce it will be evident that their careers may have played the biggest roles in making their marriage damaged beyond repair. If we’re lucky the source was completely wrong.
