The ever popular “Fast & The Furious” series continues to be great as the latest installment, “The Fate of The Furious” breaks the all-time worldwide box office record with $532 million in the first weekend. Along with this, it has made the director, F. Gary Gray, the most successful black director to date with the highest worldwide box office totals.
All of Gray’s films have grossed a combined $1.21 billion. If you haven’t heard of his name, you’ve definitely seen some of his movies. They include “Friday,” “Set it Off,” and Oscar-nominated “Straight Outta Compton” to name a few. He beats out Tim Story who has directed the “Ride Along” series starring Ice Cube and Kevin Hart, “Think Like A Man” and the first two “Fantastic Four” films.
Gray is definitely one of the best directors we have today, let alone black directors. Congratulations on your continued success F. Gary Gray!
