The new trend in Hollywood today seems to be the biopic film and it’s easy to see why. These narratives capture audiences emotionally and restore a nostalgic feeling to the viewer. For the most part, The Hip-Hop biopic has been the most lucrative for studio filmmakers as of late. These stories seemed to really take off  in 2015 when NWA tried their hand at it, and in June of 2017 we will have another iconic hip-hop figure in Tupac Shakur immortalized on the big screen.

The only other hip-hop narrative that could possibly top any of those would be The Roc-A-Fella story. According to Dame Dash, Co-Founder of the ROC we may be able to relive those classic days in theaters in the foreseeable future.

Knowing how Dash operates, and given his current relationship with Jay-Z  it would seem a bit farfetched to say that something like this would be available to us anytime soon. Albeit, Dame Dash does elude to having a different approach he would employ to make it a reality.

“Why would I make a recreation of what everyone saw? I want to make things that no one knew. I want to attack it a way that no one would attack it,” he says. “If I do it from my perspective, it probably won’t be what everyone is thinking. I won’t do it unless it’s something interesting,” says Dash during his interview  with Hip Hop Motivation.
