After being found guilty for the death of former New Orleans Saint Will Smith, Cardell Hayes filed a civil suit against his widow, Racquel Smith for “property damage, medical expenses, lost wages, mental anguish, severe emotional distress, and loss of enjoyment of life.” Back in December Hayes was found guilty of manslaughter and attempted manslaughter for the shooting death of Smith and the shooting of his wife, Racquel Smith after a car accident.
“The suit names Racquel Smith, Richard Hernandez, and their insurance companies as defendants,” according to the story. “Hayes claims Hernandez came at him and tried to assault him after an accident. Hayes also claims that Smith threw a drink in his face and then punched him in the face.”
Hernandez and his wife were passengers in Smith’s truck the night of the shooting. Hernandez’s wife, Rebecca Dooley filed a civil lawsuit against Hayes, Racquel Smith, as well as both Hayes’ and Smith’s auto insurance companies neck, back and shoulder injuries as a result of the incident.
Racquel Smith also filed a lawsuit against Hayes and the auto insurance companies of both her husband and Hayes.
