In his new role as the sole star on his team, he has risen to be a great leader and that has shown in how he responded to a question asked to his teammate Steven Adams during their postgame interview.

Off the back of a historical season where he averaged a triple double and beat the record of triple-doubles in a season, Russell has not let his success make him an isolated star in this league. Down 3-1 in his series against the Houston Rockets, where he has had three straight triple-doubles, he refuses to let the media blame it on his teammates. Instead, he admirably defends them in a true show of leadership.
