ESPN has begun a new phase of “evolving” that is aimed at bringing more focus to the companies digital platforms. Massive layoffs come with this new phase as 100 on-air personalities and writers have been fired from the company today (Apr. 26).

This rumored announcement became official when ESPN’s John Skipper released a statement early April 26. In the statement, Skipper made remarks about changes in their “talent line-up” and new jobs will open up as well.

ESPN also expressed regret for having to let everyone go and thanked them for their contributions. “These decisions impact a talented people who have done great work for our company.  I would like to thank all of them for their efforts and their many contributions to ESPN.”
