Cameron Burke, his wife, and two kids were flying from JFK to Las Vegas for his wife’s 40th birthday with a buttercream cake put in the overhead bin. The cake was deterred as a security risk and the flight crew created a mild dispute turned wrong that turned into a disagreement resulting the family off the flight.
According to the family, they adhered to all the attendants’ instructions until they called Port Authority into the mix of the situation. Officer report the incident as “no wrongdoing” on the family’s side, yet airline staff reported them to get off the fight still.

“A flight attendant nicely asked me to remove the cake from that compartment, so I moved it to another one,” Cameron said to New York Daily News.
“She then asked me to move it to underneath the seat in front of me, I did. You know, you could see the gestures – then she was pointing to her, did you tell him he couldn’t put anything in the overhead compartment? I had approached them, and I said everything was fine, and she said, ‘sir, this does not involve you. When she told me I had been non-compliant, then I said ‘ma’am, had you been drinking?’ because her behavior was not normal”
Chaos erupted even more which bounced the flight crew to debunk everyone off the plane just to remove the family. Everything was refunded and Jetblue declared the situation at hand a fault on the family for storing the dessert in a bin hat was for safety equipment.
