Hasan Minhaj of “The Daily Show” swings through to explain that he’s not the embattled brother of Nicki Minaj and speaks on his most recent gig at the White House Correspondence Dinner and lets us know how he got the job:

“It’s the way it works for a lot of people of color – nobody wanted to do the job, so it fell in the hands of an immigrant.”

Apparently, James Corden was approached first to host and declined. Next, the President pulls out of going then advises his whole staff not to. There was speculation the event would not happen at all. Minhaj saw this as the perfect opportunity to uphold what the night was supposed to be about – free speech.
