After recently talking about political ambitions with GQ and calling a 2020 presidency run a “real possibility,”  the internet has been abuzz with the idea of the free world being run by the former wrestler, turned popular actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Over the weekend, he hosted the season finale of “Saturday Night Live”(joining the “Five-Timers Club”) Johnson and actor Tom Hanks jokingly announced they would run on the 2020 ticket.

They joked around saying things like:

“The truth is, America needs us,” Hanks said. “No one can seem to agree on anything anymore except for two things: pizza and us.”

Hanks joked that the duo would get 100 percent of the vote because Hanks ― who’s “fought in World War II in like 10 different movies” ― would win the senior vote.

“And I, of course, would get the minority vote,” Johnson added. “Because everyone just assumes that I’m, well, whatever they are.”

Johnson said on a more serious note that “When it comes to politics, we need more poise and less noise, Americans deserve strong, capable leaders ― leaders who care about this country and care about its people.” Which then segued into their announcement.
While it was obviously a joke, could there be just a little seriousness of The Rock being our next president? It wouldn’t be the first actor turned president we had in our history. Watch the monolouge above.
