Bill Cosby’s prosecutors have been accused of “systematic” white-washing of the jury that will decide Cosby’s fate in his sexual assault trial. The process of electing jurors is under way, and after one woman of color was removed by the Montgomery County district attorney’s office, Cosby’s attorneys have used a peremptory challenge to address the issue.
“We believe this is systematic exclusion of African-Americans… We believe it is of paramount importance we seat a diverse jury.” Said Cosby’s attorney Brian McMonagle.
Cosby’s prosecutor Stewart Ryan has denied the claims. He supported it by saying the woman who was removed was previously charged with falsifying time sheets in her police department, although she wasn’t convicted and ended up suing the city of Pittsburgh.
The judge made the decision to keep the woman on the jury after some deliberation with counsel.
