Earlier this month the mysterious 4:44 advertisement popped up and people suspected a Jay Z album may be in the works. During the NBA Finals, a commercial revealed this was a movie starring Mahershala Ali, Danny Glover and Lupita Nyong’o. Exciting, but not exactly what people thought at the time.

However, last night or just as the clock stroked midnight today the TIDAL account announced it would in fact be a Jay Z album as well!

It’ll be exclusively available for Tidal and Sprint users June 30th! Before that post the TIDAL account also posted a snippet of Mahershala Ali boxing for what looks like to be for the movie. But in the background of the scene Hov can be heard spitting some bars to a somber sounding beat. The visual is titled Adnis, for Jay Z’s late father Adnis Reeves.

Jay Z hasn’t dropped an album since 2013’s Magna Carta Holy Grail. He recently was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame as the first rapper ever. This appears to be a concept album and it’s always exciting hearing one of Hip Hop’s legends surface with some new material.
