“All Eyez On Me” debuted this past weekend with a surprising $27 million box office growth, exceeding the predictions which placed it between $17-$20 million. The Tupac biopic has received some negative attention from critics and some of those who were close to Pac, including Jada Pinkett-Smith.

The Rotten Tomato score has a 26% fresh rating, which is not a good consensus amongst film critics. Audiences seem to enjoy the film by giving it an A-minus CinemaScore.

Jada Pinkett-Smith took to Twitter to let people know how she feels about the portrayal of her relationship with Pac in the movie.

Jada went on to clarify she respects the actors in the film, including first-time actor Demetrius Shipp Jr.

Despite the mixed press, the movie still had a strong debut, which is a good indication for films aimed at black audiences.
