Sherriff David Clarke withdraws his acceptance of the job of assistant secretary at the Department of Homeland.
Clarke is a very vocal supporter of Trump from the beginning. It was no shock that he was offered a job once Trump got in office. According to The Grio, Clarke was to take his new position at the DHS at the end of June, but according to a source there was much delay to the process of Clarke getting the position and that played part in the Sheriff turning down the position. A statement has surfaced about the situation:
“Late Friday, Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke Jr. formally notified Secretary of Homeland Security John F. Kelly that he had rescinded his acceptance of the agency’s offer to join DHS as an assistant secretary,” said Craig Peterson, an adviser to Clarke. “Sheriff Clarke is 100 percent committed to the success of President Trump and believes his skills could be better utilized to promote the president’s agenda in a more aggressive role.”
Now what Clarke’s new role in Trump’s administration will be is anyone’s guess, but it will certainly be a “more aggressive role.”
