It looks like tension between Jay-Z and Kanye West has thickened post-4:44 release. In a sudden turn of events, West has reportedly cut ties with Tidal over complaints that the company owes him close to $3 million.
In 2016, released “The Life of Pablo” exclusively on Tidal, a move that reportedly brought in 1.5 million new subscribers to the streaming service. According to West, he was supposed to receive a bonus for the boost in subscribers but never received it. There are also conflicting reports about reimbursement over music videos. West claims he was supposed to be paid for music videos and never was, but TMZ reports a source claims that West didn’t get the money because he never made the videos. Reports also claim that West planned to make the video after being paid.
West’s lawyer reportedly sent two letters to Tidal claiming they were in breach and its contract with West was terminated. Reports claim that Tidal fired back with their own letter threatening to sue West if he tries to take his music to a different streaming site under an exclusive deal. West is reportedly preparing for a lawsuit.
