A group of Sudanese women and children were celebrating Eid al-Fitr, on July 1, in a local park in Oxford, England, when they were attacked by a racist mob. The police were called after the altercation and had helped one injured person on sight while another was sent to the hospital. According to police, “racist language was used.”
Some witnesses are claiming the incident wasn’t a racist attack, and it was all just a misunderstanding. However, this claim seems to be relying on a coincidental explanation, and not a logical one at that, considering the circumstances.
Muslims in the U.K. are facing increasing numbers of hate crimes due to increased political rhetoric suggesting they are a dangerous group. The video shows a frenzy that is heated, and does not resemble any sort of innocent disagreement; it looks like anger and defense.
