Just when we’ve thought we’ve seen it all from Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter he does it again. His latest album 4:44 has been certified platinum by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) less than a week after its release.

The same happened with Manga Carta Hoy Grail when it was released on July 4, 2013. Thanks to exclusive deals with then Samsung and now Sprint, he has started broken a new barrier for Hip-Hop culture.

Going platinum for an artist of Jay-Z’s stature is still an accomplishment, if there’s one thing 4:44 taught us it’s not to take things for granted. This is Hov’s 13th platinum album plaque, more than any other artist in RIAA history. Jay is also the only rapper with 10 or more platinum albums in his discography.

Physical copies and Apple Music availability are slated to start Friday.
