It seems the higher ups in the MTA have finally gotten something right in New York City. The punishment for jumping the turnstile bar in the subway will no longer result in prosecution by the city. Instead, violators will be handled through the MTA’s protocol.

Repeat offenders will get a desk appearance ticket and a chance to complete a diversion program before going to court.

Now if only they could fix the issues with the actual rail system.
