Bakari Henderson was beaten to death outside of a bar, located on the Greek island Zakynthos, on July 7, and now police have apprehended eight people connected to the crime.
Henderson was a recent Arizona University grad and was working on his fashion line. Henderson was doing a photo shoot on the Greek island before the tragic incident occurred outside of Bar Code in Laganas. Henderson was trying to help calm down a fight occurring among another group at the bar when the incident escalated to a full on brawl.
Police believe a 34-year-old Greek bartender and 32-year-old British bartender are the primary suspects for the appalling crime, which also includes a group of six Serbian tourists who were involved. Reports say Henderson was surrounded by ten assailants and suffered serious head injuries. No motive is known at the time.
“Bakari was not one to act aggressively like that… He was always the one who was the peacemaker,” said Bakari’s friend Travis Jenkins to ABC News.
Henderson’s family issued a statement about their lost loved one saying, “Bakari loved spending time with family and friends, traveling and meeting new people. He was a big thinker and enjoyed coming up with new business ventures.”
A GoFundMe has been set up on behalf of his family.
