“Dance for me boy”
Four words that have labeled Conor McGregor a racist. During Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor’s promotion tour, there’s been a ton of disrespectful remarks exchanged by the fighters. Floyd has called McGregor a “bitch” at least 25 times (and counting) and McGregor has made several comments regarding Floyd’s legal issues with the IRS.
Yet, it was Conor’s cringe-worthy use of the word “boy” that has gained the most attention. Historically, in America, calling a black man “boy” is derogatory and deemed racist. Even if Mayweather, 40, was a child there are racially attachments to using the word “boy”, especially when you’re a white male.
Floyd doesn’t seem as bothered by the comment, telling TMZ, “We all know there’s only two types of boys. A white-boy and a cowboy and I’m not neither” he said with a smile on his face before adding “I’m just joking.”
Mayweather then appears to answer the reporter with a more serious tone:
“I’m not upset at all. Conor McGregor is a tough competitor, I’m a tough competitor. And it’s about giving the fans what they want to see. A lot of people say that Conor McGregor is racist but I don’t worry about that.”
